Summary: | In the world of energy and power generation, coal is still the main resources used as fuel for power generation. We often encounter several problems with coal, such as the occurrence of automatic combustion by coal, as well as weathering phenomena that occur in the coal yard. This can result in losses of calorific value from coal and also financial losses because the effectiveness of coal has decreased.
There are several methods that can be used to reduce losses that occur due to changes in the calorific value of coal. One way that can be used is to make coal extraction more effective. There are several methods that can be used in coal management, such as the FIFO method, as well as coal extraction based on coal quality.
In this final project, the author conduct a study that explains the effectiveness of the application of the FIFO method on reducing the loss of calorific value from coal. This work was carried out with the help of the Flexsim application as an application to model a material handling and also as a simulation application. Based on the simulation, the average coal is located in the coal yard for 5 days 7 hours. In this way, it is hoped that the rate of loss of calorific value from coal can be controlled. |
