After several periods, studies have proved some negative impacts caused by the contact limitations to those who conducted the policy. Other studies also found increasing trends of people using Public Open Space (POS) in cities as a place to carry out safe outdoor activities such as leisure and as emergency public health facility during the restriction period. However, there is also a lack of decent POS provision and availability in the city. The City of Cimahi is faced with similar problems. AlunAlun Kota Cimahi (Cimahi City Square) has been faced with a decline in the quality of facilities, public unconformity to orders, and health protocols breach inside the square during the pandemic. These problems have become a challenge that needs to be resolved in regards to Alun-Alun Kota Cimahi’s role as the city’s main POS. The research was conducted in an explorative manner which includes formulating criteria, components, principles, and concepts. The fragmental method was used as the design method for the research. Designing Alun-Alun Cimahi as adaptive POS to COVID-19 pandemic also considers literature study of designing normative POS, terms of KEPMENKES No.HK.01.07 2020 about Health Protocols in Public Settings, as well as problems and potentials existed in delineation through on-site observation and online questionnaire to identify the perception and preference of the square’s visitor, before and during the pandemic. The analysis resulted as, to design adaptive POS to COVID-19 pandemic in delineation, there are 4 criteria of designing aspect, 27 design components, 60 design principles, and 7 significant points of the design concept that needs to be focused on. Priority for the 4 criteria of designing aspect (ordered from the most to the least important) is comfort, accessibility, function, and lastly, attractiveness and identity. For components, principles, and concept of design, mostly focused on providing normative standardized facilities, suitable to the characteristic of the delineation, and in accordance to physical distancing protocols. Some of the examples are providing handwashing facilities, disinfecting facilities, screen buffer as a physical restrainer, arrangement of the facilities according to the intensity of usage which avoids traffic and crowding, on-site parking and signage, food stalls, and landmarks as the focal point of the delineation. text |
