Summary:Taxithelium kerianum are potentially used as source of medicinal compound, especially as antioxidant. One of its active antioxidant components are derived from flavonoids group. In order to increase flavonoid content of T. kerianum, elicitation with methyl jasmonate can be choosen as alternative. This research investigated the effect of methyl jasmonate elicitation on plant growth and flavonoid yield in in vitro culture with knop medium supplementation added with 100 ?M of Methyl jasmonate. Growth data are collected by sampling fresh weight of T. kerianum culture on day 0, 7, 14, 21, 28, and 35 of cultivation. Flavonoid extraction performed on day 21 of cultivation using ethanol 70% as solvent in Soxhlet method. T. kerianum extract then analyzed using Aluminum chloride colorimetric spectrophotometry as quantitative methods of determining flavonoid content. Elicitation with methyl jasmonate causes a decrease in growth rate, showed by lower ? parameter compared to control culture (0,006 day-1 and 0,014 day-1). Quantitative result of flavonoid determination shows that methyl jasmonate elicitated culture are yielding more flavonoid (13,84 mg(QE)/gDW) compared to control culture (10,77 mg(QE)/gDW) with 28,48% of increase.
