Initially, Rantau Gedang Village, which is located on a riverbank in the core zone of a tropical conservation rainforest, always experiences flooding every year. Various attempts were made by the government to move the village, but to no avail, because the community has a connection with the river (water) and during floods, although it causes a lot of damage and isolation (due to cut off access), the community benefits from fishing. This thesis will show the process of relocating the illegal settlements of Rantau Gedang Village to a new location, and then explore the flood resilient housing model with an ecological approach and implement it in the proposed shelter design. Ecological approach studies and precedents were carried out to obtain the criteria for flood resilient settlements. The resulting criteria include; 1. Land use needs to accommodate all community activities and pay attention to natural characteristics 2. Energy use, water treatment and waste disposal systems by looking at conditions, potential, culture and the shape of the building in accordance with local climate and nature.3. Utilization of nature that functions as a source of livelihood that supports community activities.4. Design of housing and the surrounding environment that can adapt to flooding with the use of appropriate materials. By using the Flood Resilient Index (FRI) assessment, the proposed design tries to formulate ecological land use with the aim that flooding is no longer a threat to people, especially those who work from the agricultural sector. Flood Resilient Index (FRI) assessment of six aspects covering energy use, water availability, waste management, food supply, human activities and urban/regional road access on a scale of 0 (not available) to 5 (fully available/very good). Then all aspects of the Flood Resilient Index (FRI) assessment will be completed with an ecological approach that will ensure the construction of human settlements and their activities continue to function properly during or after flooding while taking into account nature. text
