Summary: | In October 2021, the price of coal touched 269.5 dollars per ton, the highest since 2008. Many
factors have influenced the increase in coal prices, one of which is the coming winter and
rising demand for energy in line with the recovery of the world economy after the availablity
of Vaccines for Covid-19. The disruption of underground coal mining production in China is
due to weather factors so that it is not sufficient for the country's coal demand. In Europe, the
supply of natural gas is also experiencing disruption so that it becomes scarce and shifts to
coal.
PT Mitrabara AdiPerdana, Tbk. (MBAP) is one of the coal companies that has a fairly good
financial performance even though the price of coal had touched 50 dollars per ton during
covid-19 in 2020. Compared to other coal mining companies, PT Mitrabara Adiperdana, Tbk.
is a public company that has highest dividend yield. In August 2020, PT Mitrabara
Adiperdana, Tbk. distributed a cash dividend of IDR. 358 per share which is more than 10%
yield.
This final project aims to calculate the intrinsic value of MBAP with absolute method or
discounted cash flow model. The calculated intrinsic value is to be compared by relative
valuation to get recommendation for investor in making decision whether to sell, hold or buy.
