POWER SPECTRAL ANALYSIS OF BRAIN WAVE FOR ALFA BANDS BY SCREEN-BASED VR (VIRTUAL REALITY) STIMULATIONS

Virtual Reality (VR) is a computer simulation that is able to create an atmosphere like the real world. Giving VR stimulation of moving impressions to humans can cause motion sickness without the influence of physical stimulation. Stimuli received can relate to the senses of sight and optic nerves,...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/62944 Virtual Reality (VR) is a computer simulation that is able to create an atmosphere like the real world. Giving VR stimulation of moving impressions to humans can cause motion sickness without the influence of physical stimulation. Stimuli received can relate to the senses of sight and optic nerves, then propagate to the brain's nervous system to process commands and produce body responses. This case is interesting and can be evaluated using electroencephalography (EEG). Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effect of VR stimulation on subjects through the shape of the EEG power spectral curve produced by the brain at the same time as the body's response. The research was carried out on 10 subjects using an EEG type Neuron-Spectrum-63 and an OpenBCI electrode cap with 19 channels. The results of the EEG data are processed using the MATLAB application and the EEGLAB interactive feature. In addition, the Simulation Sickness Questionnaire (SSQ) was used as a qualitative evaluation of VR stimuli to determine body responses. The results showed that the dominant frontal and frontopolar brain regions were activated when given VR stimulation, indicating rapid eye movement activity. After the subject was given VR stimulation, the subject felt eye strain and the parietal brain was activated. text
