Description
Summary:As an agrarian country, Indonesia has a great potential to develop agricultural sector by utilizing paddy as main commodity. In the rice field, around 1-1.5 kg of paddy straw is resulted for kg amount of paddy harvested causing paddy straw the main waste in the rice field. Valorization of rice staw could give an increase in economical added value of paddy straw and at the same time solves environmental impact that could occur. In this research, paddy straw that contains high lignocellulosic material and by adding rice bran making it a great substrate for Agaricus bisporus. This research uses TSP fertilizer and a mixture of paddy straw and rice bran in the rice bran to rice straw ratio of 10%, 20%, and 30% (w/w). A consortium of Lactobacillus plantarum and Aspergillus niger with a ratio of 1:2 (w/w) was mixed into the substrate to initiate the fermentation process for 10 days. The purpose of this fermentation process is to degrade lignocellulose content in the mixture so that the nutrient inside of the substrate could be easily accessed. After fermentation, 5 gram of A. bisporus mushroom spawn was then added to the mixture to initiate mycelium growth on substrate for 14 days. After mycelium covers the whole surface of the substrate, coco peat was added with a thickness of ±3 cm to stimulate growth of mushroom fruit body. In this research the highest mycelium growth rate is obtained by addition of rice bran 20% on mixture which has the value of 0.399 mm2 d-1. This mixture contains 43.56±1.06% of hot water soluble content, 21.69±0.03% of hemicellulose, 11.75±0.42% of cellulose, 9.76±0.19% of lignin, and ash content of 13.21±1.65%. On this variation, the predicted maximum yield using Python© software t is 166.9 gr/kg of compost. From statistical analysis based on the p-value (p>0.05), fermentation process using this consortium gives significantly effect on lignocellulose content of the substrate mixture.
