Considering the increasing popularity of pencak silat martial arts, the identification of the physiological characteristics of pencak silat is an interesting thing for researchers to study. The main objective of this research is to evaluate the physiological characteristics of pencak silat athletes in the men's fighting category. Methods: This research is an observational study. This research consists of two testing sessions, the first is a laboratory test session which aims to obtain Anthropometry, VO2max, Flexibility, Agility, and Anaerobic Power. Meanwhile the second session is a field test which aims to get the results of the analysis of the match seen based on the techniques in the pencaksilat movement, Hate Rate, Blood Lactate. Results: Based on some of our findings, the pencak silat athletes have an average height of 166.44 (±5.77) cm, then the average BMI of all participants is 20.1 (±1.68) kg/m -2, the percentage of body fat is 11.89 (±4.30) percent, and the percentage of muscle is 37.53 (±1.91) percent. The average flexibility possessed by pencak silat is 21.08 (±2.04) cm, besides the agility possessed by pencak silat has an average result of 5.63 (±0.28). Conclusion: Based on research on athletes who take part in this pencak silat competition, it can be seen that pencak silat in the fighting category is a sport with intermittent characteristics with moderate to high intensity. Pencak silat athletes in the men's tanding category have an anthropometric average that is similar to pencak silat athletes from other Asian countries. Pencak silat athletes have average flexibility with a very good, this will be able to help pencak silat athletes because the analysis of this study shows that kicks in pencak silat are used more often than punches or other techniques. Then during a pencak silat match there is an increase in pulse rate and lactic acid levels in each round. text |
