Summary: | Aur bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris) is a plant that is widely used by the people of
West Java. This bamboo grows a lot on community plantations, mainly used for fences
and cliff-reinforcing plants. In addition to providing ecological benefits, Aur bamboo
has a lot of potential, including as a raw material to replace granite (battery raw
material) and has the best quality activated charcoal from other bamboos. The success
rate of producing aur bamboo seedlings through the propagation of branch cuttings is
still very low. The solution to increase seedling production is through the propagation
of cuttings using growth-stimulating substances. From research that has been done that
liquid smoke has the potential to be a stimulant for the plant growth. This study aims
to determine the effect of dosage and duration of immersion in liquid smoke on the
growth of aur bamboo cuttings. This research was conducted in April-June 2021 at the
Gunung Geulis Forum nursery, Jatiroke Village, Sumedang Regency. The study used
a completely randomized design with 2 treatments, namely the dose of liquid smoke
consisting in ppm of 5000 (P1), 4000 (P2) and 5000 (P3) and the immersion time
consisted in minute of 15 (M1), 30 (M2) and 45 (M3). The parameters measured
consisted of the number of shoots, shoot length, number of roots and root length. The
results of data analysis showed that the administration of liquid smoke at a dose of
3000ppm-5000ppm with a soaking time of 15-45 mnt did not significantly affect the
growth of aur bamboo branch cuttings aged 2 months after planting. However, the
results it is known that immersion of bamboo aur cuttings material for 30 mnt in a solution of 3000 ppm liquid smoke, resulted in an increase in the number of shoots,
shoot length, root number and root length which was higher than the other treatments,
namely 1 ,6; 1.03 cm; 1.4; 4.12 cm.
