It has an effect on increased usage of information technology and social media. The ease of accessing social media and using information technology causes students to develop connections with fellow students, forming virtual communities for learning that can make students feel more engaged. This study aims to see the effect of the use of social media and information technology on student engagement in generation Z during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research was conducted in Bandung City and Bandung Regency. The sampling technique used a sample quota with a total of 569 students with the period 2017/2018 – period 2019/2020 as respondents. This research uses the quantitative approach, data collection methods offered by the online questionnaire. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive statistical analysis, classic assumption test, simple linear regression test, multiple linear regression test, and determination coefficient test. The researcher uses SPSS applications as a tool in analyzing data. The result for this research showed the use of social media and information technology significantly affects student engagement in generation Z students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the results of the test and data analysis, it can be concluded that the use of social media and information technology has a significant influence on student engagement with a percentage of 21.7% and as much as 78.3% the rest explained by other factors not researched in this research. With the results obtained, this research can be said to be useful for universities and student to maximizing the use of social media and information technology in learning activities. It can also provide a good way to increase student engagement during learning text |
