In addition, cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in 2019 spreaded by female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes amounted to 112,954 cases. Therefore, the government has made various efforts to reduce cases of the disease, one of which is the use of synthetic compounds such as DEET (N,N-dimethyl-3-methyl benzamide). These synthetic chemical compounds had a negative impact on the environment. Therefore, it is necessary to replace chemicals into natural plant materials. So this study collects various research articles in order to collect comprehensive data on potential plants that can be developed later into environmentally friendly mosquito repellent products. The research method used using the Google Scholar search engine, Scopus, Web of science, Sciencedirect, National Center for BioTechnology Information (NCBI), with the keywords "essential oil/essential oil/Essential oil", "mosquito repellent/mosquito repellent", " repellent/repellency” , and “Mosquito”. Based on the results of the search, 5 plants had mosquito repellents above 90% within 6 hours of observation, namely, cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmanii), papaya (Carica papaya), babadotan (Ageratum conyzoides L.), ylang (Cananga odorata hook F. & Thoms), and rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.), 15 other plants with mosquito repellents above 50%, namely, patchouli (Pogostemon cablin (Blanco) Benth.), citronella (Cymbopogon nardus), basil (Ocinum cannum), Cloves (Syzygyium aromaticum), Kaffir lime (Cytrus histix), Basil (Ocimum sanctum), Betel (Piper betle), Kecombrang (Etlingera elatior (Jack) RM Smith), Avocado (Persea Americana Mill), Zodia (Euvodia graveolens), Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum), Tembelekan (Lantana camara), and Legundi (Vitex trifolia Linn). text |
