DISTRIBUSI DAN PEMANFAATAN HABITAT KOMUNITAS BURUNG PADA EKOSISTEM HUTAN TANAMAN DAN LADANG DI GUNUNG TAMPOMAS, KABUPATEN SUMEDANG

Mount Tampomas is one of many conservation areas and important bird areas (IBA) in Indonesia. Some parts of natural forest in Mount Tampomas have been modified into farmland and plantation forest. These change in land use creates edge effects between habitats and changes in vegetation diversity which can affect the diversity of birds in Mount Tampomas. The objective of this research is to study the presence of edge effects in plantation forest ecosystems in the form of Albizia (Albizia chinensis) and Pine (Pinus sp.) plantations and to study the use of vertical stratification of vegetation by bird communities in farmland, ecotones, and interior of plantation forests ecosystems. The research was conducted in dry season between June 26 and August 22, 2021. Data for this study were taken from two locations. The first location consists of farmland, ecotone farmland-Albizia plantation, and interior of Albizia plantation. The second location consists of farmland, ecotone farmland-Pine plantation, and interior of Pine plantation. Bird observations were carried out at 06.00-09.00 and 15.00-18.00 using the point count method with the duration at each point is 30 minutes. The total of observed species is 38 species, 23 families. Diversity index at ecotone farmland-Albizia plantation and interior of Albizia plantation is meagerly different (H'=2.48 and 2.82). Likewise, the diversity index in the ecotone farmland-pine and interior of pine forest is meagerly different too (H'=2.44 and 2.59). Edge effects are not present in two plantation forest ecosystems and bird communities between two ecotones have different compositions although structurally not different. The use of vertical stratification by bird communities in all locations is strongly influenced by the presence of vegetation variation.
