Description
Summary:PT. Ciba Vision Batam is still considered behind when it is compared with other Alcon manufacturing sites worldwide in many areas such as productivity, technology, processes, skilled worker, and many more. The company is manufacturing the legacy products, which has been in the market for more than 20 years. As a result, the production volume decrease as many Alcon new products being introduced to the market. Innovation is identified by the management team as one of the main factors why the company is still behind in attracting new products line from the corporate. The spinoff of Alcon from Novartis in 2019 was seen as the good momentum for the company to improve the situation. It introduced Alcon Batam culture to realign the organization and the associates with the new way of workings. The research focus on using and leveraging Alcon Batam culture, ownership and accountability, speed and simplicity, and speakup, to drive the innovative behavior in PT. Ciba Vision Batam. Here, roles of the management team are pivotal to drive the successful implementation of the culture by making it alive in the organization through behaviour, symbol, and system in action planning and action taking. Using this approach, the research found that it is successful in the improvement of the management team drive towards innovative behaviour which is shown by the significant improvement of the innovative behavior survey and employee pulse survey in October 2021 after the action taking phase. With this approach, it creates better working atmosphere and environment for the associates to support innovative behavior such as collaboration, risk taking, entrepreneur, and learning. Hence, we can conclude that the Alcon Batam culture can drive the innovative behavior effectively through the full involvement of the leaders.
