Although the development of Jakarta is more advanced than other province in Indonesia, a
segregation of class because of this development can be seen through out the city. Some of the main
case of this segregation of class is the settlements and housing development.
Almost on every district of Jakarta, a high density settlements and dwellings can be seen. Those
dwellings is often describe as the urban village or kampung kota. These kampung has a main
characteristic of low income citizen and high density of housing. Although this conditions are likely to
cause more problems, these kampung are also known for their sense of belonging to their community
and neighborhood.
This project will tackle those issues and try to create a more sustainable and decent housing for
the people of urban kampung to live. Project site is located on Jembatan Besi of Tambora District in
West Jakarta, one of the district in Jakarta that has the highest population density. The main function
of the facilities are for residential also provide a open spaces and commercial function to improve the
neighborhood. |
