Summary: | The tourism sector is one of the contributing sectors that advances the Indonesian
economy. The tourism sector has an impact both as a source of foreign exchange
as well as a source of job opportunities and business opportunities. One of them is
Purwakarta Regency which has tourism potential and creative economy.
Unfortunately, tourist visits are still uneven and dominated by family visits and tour
groups. Promotional segmentation is considered not enough to move the younger
generation to make Purwakarta nature tourism a tourist destination. Meanwhile,
the younger generation is the generation that is expected to be the driving force of
the current economy. The current range of the younger generation is those between
1995 – 2010, or 12 – 27 years. Promotional strategies through digital media such
as social media and websites have been carried out, but are still considered to be
lacking in tourism motivation. Therefore, the digital media used in this design is an
adventure tourism game because the experience and exploration offered through
the virtual world is considered suitable for the younger generation, especially those
aged 18-25 years.
This game is designed using Iterative Game Design with a tourist motivation
approach to make the game as a supporting promotional media. Concept design
was carried out by conducting a literature review, observation, and distributing
questionnaires, then designing a game concept which was carried out iteratively
and testing prototypes for the younger generation who live in Greater Jakarta. This
game provides information and virtual experiences about tourist destinations in
Purwakarta. The results of the prototype show that the design of this tourist
adventure game is interesting, the information on tourist destinations is easy to
recognize and recognize, as well as the motivation to visit for generation Z aged
18-25 years who live in Greater Jakarta. |
