Summary: | Lift On Lift Off (LoLo) operation is an essential operation of PT. Airin business. The operation covered how containers are carried out in the field of the container yard. PT. Airin business is to temporarily put containers in their container yard before the container is handed to the cargo owner. Lift On is a series of work operations when the container in the container yard of PT. Airin is going to be delivered to the cargo owner. The word Lift On is mainly on the time when the reach stacker is putting the container to the truck that going to deliver the container to the cargo owner. The term is applied reverse in Lift Off operation. Lift Off is a series of work operations when the container from the container terminal is delivered to PT. Airin. However, PT. Airin still has room for improvement for those operations due to the indicator like the truck still have to wait in the container yard and if one of PT. Airin’s reach stacker got jammed, the container yard of PT. Airin going to be very crowded with trucks. That is the thing that involves the efficiency of how PT. Airin does the operations. This research is to review what are the root causes of the problem and to propose an improvement of the operations. To do the task, the research uses Lean Six Sigma. There is a DMAIC method inside Lean Six Sigma. DMAIC is for Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control. The research is using the qualitative method. Some interviews with several employees involves in the aimed operation. The result of the interview helps to strengthen the actual situation and to understand the internal dynamical of PT. Airin. Several tools are also involved in the research such as SIPOC Diagram, Pareto Diagram, and Fishbone Diagram. The research has resulted the root cause of the problem is the lack of training events, lack of facilities, lack of technology, lack of reach stacker backup. In the Improve phase, the author proposes improvements to overcome the root causes. After combining the previous phases and imagination, the author resulted to get improvements to conducting a periodical training event, adding integrated gadget device, and adding total of reach stacker. Conducting a periodical training event is supposed to overcome the lack of training events. Conducting a periodical training event makes the operators of reach stacker smarter at work and share their personal experience with other operators. Adding integrated gadget device is supposed to overcome the lack of facilities and lack of technology. It cuts the steps in doing LoLo operation to be merged into one step. In other words, after the integrated gadget device is implemented, the operation should be getting more efficient than before. Adding total of reach stacker is supposed to overcome the lack of reach stacker backup. PT. Airin should have not remained worried whenever the traffic of in and out containers got higher. There is one reach stacker ready when one of the reach stackers is off. |
