Description
Summary:Trains are a favorite choice of transportation when they want to travel for long distances, especially in Java, because the majority of people choose this mode because it is comfortable, cheap, affordable and can rest while enjoying the scenery along the route. Currently, the condition of train services is faced with difficult conditions, specifically the declining quality of service which is not balanced with the high needs and demands of passengers in the form of demands for comfort and service. In addition, the program to increase operational speed to 160km/hour for long-distance trains as a semi-high or medium speed train for the Jakarta - Surabaya route requires improvements to existing railway facilities. This study aims to identify passenger problems with train services that will be planned to be developed and then an idea is needed that can answer these problems. The approach used is qualitative and quantitative, starting from a literature review regarding the definition of train facilities, case studies through the development of the Jakarta – Surabaya railway service, technical aspects, facilities and analysis of passengers as users, on participatory observations. The hope in this research is that the output is the form of several alternative designs that can be applied to answer passenger problems, specifically the need for comfort and activities while in the train.
