Spectrophotometer is an instrument for measuring the reflectance or transmittance properties of an object as a function of wavelength. Traditionally, spectrophotometers are manufactured in bulky shape and weight to use in laboratory purposes. These design however, limits spectrophotometry for field usage where logistic capabilities are limited, and electric sources are uncertain. This problem calls for a small and lightweight portable spectrophotometer. To fufill its main spectrometry function, a spectrophotometer requires some proper design in optical components placement to produce light and to control its light beam in the correct position. In this study we made the physical design dan implement lighting subsystem of a portable spectrophotometer with Solidworks and printed with a black PETG. The result shows a final product with dimension of 190 x 100 x 121 mm dan weighted 1 kg. Implementation of lightning subsystem resulted in an array of monochromatic light, captured by the digital camera. Furthermore, to enable a portable spectrophotometer, this device is equipped with batteries. These batteries are accompanied with protection circuit and voltage level translator circuit to ensure that the batteries can be recharged multiple times safely. Battery capability test of power management subsystem shows a usage time limit of 5 hours.
