Sea management in the sea area of Indonesia requires a sea use management. Related to sea use management, it is need to be considered maritime boundary functions, administration boundary and also sea boundary. During the time the UNCLOS 1982 is used for maritime boundary delimitation, as well as Republic Indonesias Act Number 32 year of 2006 (UU 32 tahun 2004) for administrative boundary delimitation. Meanwhile, sea boundary has not been discussed intensively in the context of mapping and resources management of the sea. Sea boundary delimitation requires several criteria which are suitable with name of maritime geography elements (sea, strait, and bay). Those criteria are foreland determination at the edge of the island; starting point determination; sea border line, strait and bay delineation; and also sea name determination. Sea boundary delimitation constitutes maritime toponimy activities, whereas maritime toponimy is part of Sea National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). The Sea NSDI will enable open access towards sea data which is very important within decision making process in the context of integrated sea resources management. |
