In the early stages of designing flight control-laws the appearance of PIO is difficult to be predicted and usually it appears during flight test phase. The PIO detection method is developed based on the time domain by providing PIO-parameters which are utilized for PIO prevention method. PIO prevention method is developed by providing PIO-Warning for pilots and PIO-Recovery for the aircraft. The development of these methods are performed with numerical analysis using pilot model and with experiment by utilizing test pilots on handling-quality-simulator with closed-loop-handling-quality test technique. PIO sensitivity test method has also been developed and carried out initially to obtain the character of the FXX control-laws as well as to evaluate FXX PIO and handling qualities. The results show that PIO sensitivity method is found useful to be utilized for evaluating FXX control-laws. The developed PIO detection and prevention methods are succeed to detect and prevent PIO during testing with numerical analysis and experiment in handling-quality-simulator. text
