Description
Summary:ABSTRACT:

The objectives of this research are to identify the behaviour of travellers in choosing between public and private transport travellers for working work in order to know factors that influence, to calibrate a modal choice model, and also to estimate the sensitivity of travellers in modal choice.

This research was carried out by using the stated preference method involving 67 respondents. A binomial logit model was used as the modal choice model.

The resulting models are as follows:

(Formula and table)

The explanatory variables are walking time, headway, travel time and travel cost.

Sensitivity analysises shows that travel cost is the most sensitive factor in modal choice. Furthermore, lower income travellers are more sensitive to walking time and travel cost changes, and the higher income travellers are more sensitive to headway and travel time changes.
