Description
Summary:The advancement of the semiconductor industry over the past few decades has led to the smaller and better sensor over the year. Numerous difficult problems which require complex circuits now could be solved with a few simple IC and a couple of passive components. Despite this advancement, there are plenty of specialized instruments whose design hasn’t been updated and still cost hundreds of millions of rupiah to purchase. One of those is a resistivity meter for measuring soil resistivity. This research will start by evaluating the existing design for the resistivity meter, and based on their result, a further improved design will be developed. The design is created by focusing on low cost and simplicity based on available modern sensors and operational amplifiers. The components used in the final design will be simulated and compared with another viable candidate and based on the result, the final design will be composed of such components. This design is tested to measure resistor, malang sand, and real actual soil which the result is then compared against a multimeter. When measuring actual soil, which is the worst-case scenario for measurements, the voltmeter has an average error of 7% while the ammeter has 3%.
