FIRM PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF PT ASTRA AGRO LESTARI TBK. BEFORE AND AFTER IT ACQUIRES PT PALMA PLANTASINDO AND PT KREASIJAYA ADHIKARYA

The palm oil industry has been one of the industries in Indonesia that helps stabilize the economy, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. This industry has many big players and one of them is PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk. As one of the top companies in the industry, Astra Agro Lestari is expected to further increase its market share and profit. A company can expand itself by doing mergers with other companies and acquiring other companies. The subject in this research is PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk., which had acquired PT Palma Plantasindo in 2014 and PT Kreasijaya Adhikarya in 2015. The sample period of this research is from the year 2010 to 2017, financial data are collected from PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk.’s annual report. Collected data are then processed and analyzed by using IBM SPSS Statistics 25 software. This study shows that there are significant improvement in financial performance after those two acquisitions, ratios such as total asset turnover, gross profit margin, return on assets, return on equity, and price to book value have significant improvement.
