Description
Summary:Muaro Jambi Temple Compounds is one of the many tourist attractions scattered in Indonesia. This temple compounds which occupies an area of 3,981 Ha, has the potential to be developed with many attractions such as cultural remains of the past in the form of temples, menapo, ancient canals, ponds, lakes, and the Batanghari River; present cultural remains in the form of traditional Melayu Jambi settlement that show social, economic, and the daily life activities of the local community; and festivals or events held such as the Vesak celebration and the Muaro Jambi Temple Festival which are held every year. However, the quality of this tourist destination needs to be improved by increasing the amenity and accessibility, which is a problem for tourists who want to visit the Muaro Jambi Temple Compounds. Therefore, designing the Muaro Jambi Temple Compounds master plan is needed as a form of landscape design recommendations to improve the quality of the space, shape the character, and optimize the amenity attractions and the accessibility of this temple area. The design method used refers to the process described by LaGro, such as the analysis stage process consisting of design area selection, data inventory, analysis, concept development, and design implementation. The primary data collection method used the walking method, especially the wandering method. Secondary data was obtained through research journals, online news, website articles, and books related to the Muaro Jambi Temple Compounds. The data analysis method used is qualitative. Data collected through the walking method and secondary data collection will be analyzed and described descriptively. Case studies also serve as additional information analysis to support the application of the required landscape design. The main concept of designing the Muaro Jambi Enshrinement master plan is cultural heritage tourism. To support the purpose of cultural heritage tourism, the concept of niche tourism and local community participation in this tour is also used. The historical landscape management technique used in the Muaro Jambi Enshrinement master plan design is restoration. Restoration is a technique of returning the landscape's appearance to its original condition by trying to restore the historical appearance of the landscape. This technique is applied to the brick floor, which is the original condition of the ground cover on the inside of the temple area boundary wall. The supporting concepts and their criteria are divided into the concepts of zoning, accessibility, attractions, amenities, and vegetation. These concepts and criteria produce a master plan for the Muaro Jambi Temple Compounds, showing the accessibility, attractions, and amenities spatially. In addition, this design also produces a thematic tourist route plan to facilitate visitors for religious tourism, cultural heritage tourism, natural exploration, and studying and observing the cultural landscape of the Muaro Jambi Temple Area.
