Description
Summary:The Cineam Prospect in Tasikmalaya is located in the eastern region of the Southern West Java Mountain Zone, between two main belts, i.e., the Middle–Southern Mountain Belt in the south and the Volcanic Belt in the north. This area has experienced folding and uplift in the Miocene period with a weak slope towards the Indonesian ocean. A low sulfidation epithermal gold type mineralization was identified in Cineam. Thus, studying the characteristics of mineralogy and geochemical in this region is fascinating. This research uses two methods: mineralogy and geochemical analyses. X-ray diffraction, petrographic observation, and reflectance spectroscopy analyses were used to identify minerals and altered minerals. Geochemical analysis using x-ray fluorescence and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The mineralogy characteristics of surface alteration are argillic alteration characterized by quartz, illite, smectite, and kaolinite-smectite. Geochemical analysis of rock samples was characterized by the domination of major elements such as SiO?, Al?O?, Fe?O?, MgO, MnO, CaO, and low in alkali elements. Moreover, several trace metal elements, e.g., Ag, As, Cu, Pb, and Zn, were also identified. The research results are expected to be the basis for further exploration in the Cineam Prospect area.
