Description
Summary:The development of photovoltaic systems requires DC-DC boost converters that have high voltage gain ratio, low input current ripples, and high efficiency in order to serve on-grid installation. In this study, a simplified multi-cascading cascading boost converter (Dahono-8) was proposed to meet these criteria. This converter is expected to have the advantage of being able to generate high voltage reinforcement without having to operate the duty cycle in an extreme, and capable of producing low current ripple. This study focuses on voltage gain of the converters and input current ripple of the converters. The analysis was done by comparing mathematical modeling with simulation and experimental results, from analysis of gain ratio can be known to the voltage gain of converter for each duty cycle value. The input current ripple analysis is performed by comparing the input current ripple on a multiphase topology with a single phase topology at various switching frequency values and various voltage gain reinforcement values. The results show that the simplified multi-cascaded boost converter (Dahono-8) converter has high gain voltage without having to operate the extreme duty cycle, and multilevel topology on the converter provides better ripple input current characteristics
