Description
Summary:Several large oil reserves in the world in the form of heavy oil. An estimated 20% of world oil resources is heavy oil (www.total.com). But unfortunately, with great potential, there are still a lot of heavy oil which still can not be produced in various parts of the world. This happens because as one of the properties of heavy oil has a viscosity that is high enough so that the oil flows difficult. So it takes EOR method (Enhanched Oil Recovery) that effective and economical to produce heavy oil. One type of rock where the oil trapped is sandstone. It is estimated that the sandstone reservoir is the second largest in the world after the carbonate reservoir where the oil trapped. In fact, for Indonesia itself, most types of existing reservoir is sandstone reservoir. This laboratory study consists of three main processes, namely the manufacture of artificial sandstone cores, spontaneous imbibition tests and core flooding. In the manufacture of artificial sandstone cores, the authors make artificial sandstone reservoir with quartz sand and cement and then mix with a composition of 50% quartz sand and 50% cement. For spontaneous imbibition test, performed using 2 types of solutions, namely water formation and SeMAR S14A * M. SeMAR solution S14A * M is used, consisting of several variations of the concentration of 2%, 3% and 4%. Obtained from spontaneous imbibition test SeMAR solution with a concentration of 4% gives the best oil recovery. Core flooding is done by injecting one of type of SeMAR solution that has through spontaneous imbibition test. Solution that used is S14A * M 3%. In this experiment, the authors use a series of tools Hassler Core Holder to perform the injection. Core flooding experiments conducted with injection-soaking scenario. From this experiment will be seen that need soaking time to allow imbibition process that make contra flow between oil and SeMAR thus make SeMAR solution that injected can produce oil in unswept area and eventually increase oil recovery.
