The increasingly dense land makes vertical housing is one of the solutions for providing housing for the community. Population growth also harms the environment, one of which is the increase in river pollution. The data shows that the higher the population result the higher the pollution load given to rivers every day, including the Cikapundung River in the center of The City of Bandung. The government's efforts through the Citarum Harum program have not been significant enough to reduce river pollution. The high level of domestic waste generated by households requires handling from various aspects, including from the development aspect. The water-sensitive design approach in buildings and landscapes tries to manage water treatment in an area, both sources of clean water, used water, wastewater, and rainwater, so that the water can be utilized as much as possible independently in an area without burdening the surrounding environment. Through the approach of water-sensitive design, it is expected the vertical housing design to solve environmental problems, especially river pollution. The purpose of this thesis is to design a riverside area that was primarily a densely populated area into a vertical village residence with a water-sensitive design approach as an effort to reduce the problem of river pollution due to domestic waste. The main strategies of this design are (1) the management and utilization of rainwater through harvesting and filtering system, (2) the management of the domestic wastewater system, and (3) a zero runoff system through optimization of infiltration as the use of bioswale, rain garden, and retention pond. Through this approach, it is hoped that the design of this vertical village residence can be a solution to environmental problems. text
