Description
Summary:Astronomy is one of the oldest sciences known to man. Since ancient times, humans have often used astronomy to be applied in daily activities, even in social culture, which is known as Ethnoastronomy. Ethnoastronomy relates astronomical phenomena, using celestial objects such as stars and planets for reference in daily activities, such as what the people in Kampung Naga do in carrying out agricultural activities and calendar calculations. The Kampung Naga villagers use Palintangan science which is related to astronomy in determining the time to carry out agricultural activities in Kampung Naga. The Kampung Naga villagers also use the constellation of Orion which is known as Kidang for agricultural activities even though it seems that it is no longer relevant to agricultural conditions in Kampung Naga. In addition, even though they use the Hijri calendar, the Kampung Naga villagers do not follow the existing calendar but have their own calculations by using the palintangan for the provisions of the day and calendar. The relationship between the two activities, agricultural activities and calendar calculations will be investigated further to ascertain what the relationship is with the science of astronomy. The research was conducted using literature study and interview methods. Data regarding the height of the constellation Orion is obtained using the Stellarium application, and the aboge calculation method is used for the Hijriyah Calendar calendar which is applied in Kampung Naga.
