Description
Summary:Sustainable development is a concept of development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability the future generations to fulfill their needs. The development of transportation system is very important to align with sustainable development, so we know the term sustainable transport. The commonly used tools to measure sustainable transport are indicators, but because sustainable transportation is a multidimensional concept, a lot of indicators are needed, and makes it hard to interpreted. So composite index is used to make it easier to understand. There are nine indicators used in this research which represent three aspects of sustainability, that are environment, social, and economy. Every indicator will be normalized and weighted which based by expert opinion before aggregated. Besides the composite index, there are sub index that represent the sustainability aspects. There are two different level of analysis that to be done, the first on is in Jakarta’s municipality level, which will have compared each other. The second one is in DKI Jakarta level, which will be compared with several international cities. The composite index value that generated in municipality level, shows that they have a slightly different result. It can be interpreted as the transportation systems that has been developed are equally distributed. The environmental impact that occurs as the result of the transportation development can be managed properly, but the economy impact that expected to be happen because of development of transportation system isn’t maximized enough. DKI Jakarta is really left behind when it is compared to other international cities, when in composite index or in every sub index, it shows us that DKI Jakarta has not been able to apply the sustainable concept as good as other cities in its transportation system development.
