Description
Summary:Abstract :

Nanoink from Zinc Oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles has been synthesized by a Sol-gel method, where LiOH was used as hydrolyzing agent. The products were characterized by using spectrometer X-ray to determine their crystallite size, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to determine their micro structure and morphology, and UV-Vis to determine their spectrum absorption. With variation of concentration of LiOH, the size of crystallites was found 8 nm, 17 nm and 21 nm. The band-gap energy of ZnO was found 3.54 eV, 3.43 eV and 3.42 eV. By using an inkjet printer (Epson C45) we succeeded to develop invisible character (under natural illumination) on specific paper. The characters are visible under ultraviolet illumination. This nanoink is potential for use in developing security documents such as bank notes and paper money.
