Summary:PT PLN (Persero) Pusharlis UP2W VI Surabaya produces coal nozzle burner components using make to order system. Every year, the company strives to continuously improve its performance by focused on the timeliness of production. In the last three years, the average timeliness of production for the coal nozzle burner is 93% of the 100% target. Some delay cases that still happened were caused by several waste along the production line which will extend production lead time. Lean manufacturing approach is used to analyze waste that occurs along the production line. This study will take further waste analysis using Waste-Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (W-FMEA) to determine the level of waste reduction based on the critical causes. Then, some alternative improvements will be choosen based on level of waste reduction to eliminate or minimize waste. The selected improvements are including making SOP for handling defect materials and products, providing training and certification of workers, and also optimizing the implementation of 5S. The final result shows a plan that is capable to reduce the production lead time from 7672,75 minutes to 5889,76 minutes, and reduce non- value added activity (NVA) by 27,69%.
