PLANNING OF THE WEST CIWAKA SYSTEM SEWER CHANNEL IN THE CIUJUNG IRRIGATION AREA IN MANAGING FLOOD IN SERANG REGENCY, BANTEN

The West Ciwaka sewer system is one of the systems of the Ciujung Irrigation Area. Ciujung is a potential irrigation area owned by the people of Banten, especially the farming community in Serang Regency. The need for irrigation water as the main source of water for agriculture in Serang Regency is...

Ciujung is a potential irrigation area owned by the people of Banten, especially the farming community in Serang Regency. The need for irrigation water as the main source of water for agriculture in Serang Regency is decreasing, the obstacles are due to damage to irrigation networks, decreased quality of the River Drainage Area (DPS) and increased demand for non-irrigated water (industry, settlements, raw water and others). Irrigated land, especially in Banten Province, tends to decrease from time to time due to conversion/transfer of functions. With a good sewer arrangement, the volume of water in the sewer will be in accordance with the water needs in the fields. As long as there is no additional discharge from other inputs, the capacity of the carrier channel will be able to accommodate the flowing discharge. However, in the West Ciwaka sewer system there is often additional water from rain and runoff that occurs in the irrigation area. So that the storage capacity will increase which results in runoff from the Drain Channel to the surrounding rice fields. Another thing that causes overflow of drains is that the capacity of the drains begins to decrease. The drainage canals, both artificial and natural, have been silted up due to high sedimentation. As a result of runoff and water flow from outside the irrigation area that enters the irrigation canal, the irrigation system in this irrigation area experiences excess water and causes flooding. Meanwhile, to overcome this, it is necessary to have a Drain Channel so that the run off that occurs is directly channeled into the Sewer. So it is necessary to plan the design of the sewers in the West Ciawaka System of the Ciujung Irrigation Area. text
