Summary: | The Lontara script is a cultural wealth of Bugis literacy in South Sulawesi Province
which is starting to be feared that it will soon become extinct. Efforts to preserve
the Lontara script are still being carried out in the realm of education through local
content subjects starting from the elementary school level but not all schools can
hold these subjects due to the lack of expert teaching staff. The material for the
Lontara script recognition always occurs at several levels of education due to the
lack of student mastery of the script, both visually and audio, starting from the age
of 7-8 years when children are in grades 2-3 of Elementary School. The lack of
alternative media and monotonous learning methods causes a lack of enthusiasm
for students. At this time games are media that are widely developed and used as
learning media because they can increase student enthusiasm. This study uses
double diamond methods with media design using Fullerton's theoretical approach
in-game. This research produces an educational game design with Lontra script
content in the type memory game called Tara dan Lontara in 2D-based. Memory
games are quite widely used in letter recognition educational games on the
Playstore but do not explore the addition of dramatic elements. The additional
characters and stories in the game as well as the process of matching cards
repeatedly provide a new experience that is liked by the target audience in learning
the lontara script. The design game can be one of the considerations for using
games in teaching other characters in schools and can be one of the efforts in
preserving Indonesian characters to avoid extinction. |
