RAP has benefit to minimize the use of new material, save energy, environment-friendly,
and road geometry can be retained so expected RAP material can be utilized optimally.
RAP material already suffering aging have problems in blending so Warm Mix Asphalt
(WMA) is used to prevent aging further by using additive such as Evotherm. Evotherm was
also attempted as a rejuvenating agent to restore the characteristics of RAP asphalt such
as asphalt pen 60-70.
Material of RAP obtained from the results of scrapping in Wiyoto Wiyono toll road. The
mixture designed for AC-BC on WMA mixtures with RAP content of 30%, 50%, and 70%
and use Evotherm as additive of WMA and rejuvenating agent of RAP asphalt. Mixed
analysis using Marshall testing and pavement performance analysis on Marshall
Immersion, Resilient Modulus, and permanent deformation or fatigue resistance.
As WMA additive, 2% Evotherm can reduce the viscosity of asphalt pen 60-70 to mixing
temperature of 147°C. When attempted as a rejuvenating agent, 23% Evotherm was able
to return the penetration of RAP asphalt up to 66,5 dmm but not yet capable of repairing
of the cohesion. The higher proportion of RAP in the mixtures can increase the value of
Optimum Bitumen Content, stability, flow, dan VIM. WMA RAP with 30% and 50% have
better durability than the Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) as control mixtures. WMA RAP has
higher resilient modulus value than the HMA with the maximum modulus gain at the RAP
50%. The best fatigue resistance in the mixture of HMA and WMA with RAP 30% has the
longest fatigue life compared to WMA RAP 50% and 70%. The level of RAP 70% most
efficient in use of new materials. |
