ANALYSIS OF SEDIMENT TRANSPORT IN THE DELTA AT CITARUM RIVER ESTUARY, BEKASI, WEST JAVA USING NUMERICAL MODELS AND SATELLITE IMAGE ANALYSIS

One of the impacts of land use changes in the downstream Citarum watershed on coastal areas is sedimentation. This study aims to find out the sediment levels and total sediments that affect the formation of the delta downstream of the Citarum River. The calculation of total sediment is done by measu...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/64075 One of the impacts of land use changes in the downstream Citarum watershed on coastal areas is sedimentation. This study aims to find out the sediment levels and total sediments that affect the formation of the delta downstream of the Citarum River. The calculation of total sediment is done by measuring samples of sediment levels / total suspended solids (Total Suspended Solid, TSS) at 1 (one) location, namely at the Mouth of the Citarum River. Bathymetry data collection with the clustering method is done to get a bathymetry profile around the Citarum River Estuary. The time of sampling sediment levels was conducted in April 2021. Sediment level analysis refers to SNI 06-6989.3-2004 on how to test TSS gravitationally. The results of measuring sediment levels at the location obtained a value of 389 mg / l. Observation of Satellite Imagery using Sentinel -2 for 5 years from 2017 - 2021 obtained delta formation at the Mouth of the Citarum River is 342,500 m2 with an observed TSS value of 19.65 mg / l with a pixel count of 100. Sediment supply values obtained from numerical simulations conducted with Mike DHI with Hydrodinamic (HD) and Mud Transport (MT) modules at 6 stations with a period of 1 year during the period 2021 obtained bed thickness change and Bed Level of 2.19 m. The supply of TSS in that period greatly affected river discharge. The value of TSS decreased in September - October with a discharge value recorded at 50 x 106 m3 / month. Net deposition Accumulation observations made from 22 stations assuming the 22 points represent the delta observation area around the Citarum River Estuary for 1 year obtained an average value of 125,000 g / m2. The value obtained indicates the accumulation of sediment in the Citarum River Estuary during 2021 which resulted in siltation that resulted in the formation of a delta at the Mouth of the Citarum River. One of the direct impacts due to siltation observed in the field is the disruption of fishermen's mobility around the Citarum River Estuary. This makes it very difficult for fishermen when low tide occurs. To overcome these impacts there are several alternative solutions including dredging, mangrove planting, installation of turap, and integrated river management. text
