Summary: | Riverbanks areas have long been public settlements due to increasing population and economic problems. Bojong Village, Bandung Regency, Indonesia is one of the public settlements along the Cisungala river that has poor sanitation levels Based on the observation, many residents disposed the domestic wastewater directly to the river without any treatment process. In Bojong Village, there were various programs regarding domestic wastewater management, but they were still not running effectively. Lack of public awareness of the importance of domestic wastewater management, so that wastewater flows directly to river bodies. The purpose of this research was to determine the existing condition of domestic wastewater management in the study area, evaluate existing programs in the study area, determine priority programs in domestic wastewater management in the study area, and make a strategy for domestic wastewater management in the study area. Identification of domestic wastewater management practices was carried out by observation, interviews and questionnaires addressed to stakeholders and community. A pairwase comparison test was performed to assess the criteria on the selection of domestic wastewater management programs and conduct a study of program implementation using SWOT analysis. Based on the results of research conducted on the community along the Cisungala River, access to basic sanitation was 57.43%. From the evaluation results, the existing program that has been running in this area, private toilet is still the main choice of infrastructure for washing activities and public awareness about the importance of sanitation is still lacking. The priority programs to be planned in the area are the Construction of Individual Septic Tanks, Institutional Training for KSM and Making regulations/regulations for River Normalization. The strategy for managing domestic wastewater in the study area is carried out by adding several supporting activities to support priority programs namely: Village-level socialization/extension, collaborating with puskesmas for human resource needs, Establishment of KSM, and Proposing for cooperation with CSR. |
