Biomarker as an indicator of environment degradation is a potential alternative to be developed in environmental monitoring system. Based on preliminary research by Hadisantosa (2006), by using Liposarcus pardalis as biomarker, known that Cu, Pb, and Ni concentration in in fish are increased from upstream to downstream along the river, but high concentration of Hg is detected at Bantar Panjang. There for, it needed further research about mercury pollution using Liposarcus pardalis as biomarker on Citarum River at Bantar Panjang related to its land use. The aim of this research is to identify the source of mercury pollution related to land use on those area. Nine sampling point were selected based on the streamlet of Citarum River at Bantar Panjang area. At each sampling point, three fish are taken as samples, and to be analyzed for mercury (Hg) concentration. The analyze consist detection of mercury (Hg) concentration in Liposarcus pardalis fish by using SNI 01-2364-1991. Evaluation of land used and mercury concentration in water at research area was done using secunder data from West Java-EPA. From this research, the increase of mercury concentration in research area are happened after input from Citarik and Cipamokolan River. Hg concentration on fish at this location still fulfill the standard from FAO. By comparing mercury concentration in fish from research with mercury concentration in water based on data from BPLHD show that along with the increasing of mercury concentration in water, mercury concentration in Liposarcus pardalis as biomarker also increase. Therefore, biomarker as monitoring method can describe mercury pollution at environmental. Evaluating on land used and mercury pollution for each tributary show that mercury pollution at Citarum river depend on the amount of industries, raw materials and processes in industries, waste water flow, and the treatment of waste water. text
