Description
Summary:Masks are recommended for use as human protection from the spread of SARSCoV-2 which is spread through droplets or droplets containing the virus from coughing and sneezing and can survive in the air after leaving the body. The continuous spread of COVID-19 and the high demand for medical masks can also lead to an increase in the generation of medical mask waste, not only in health facilities but also in households. As the center of business, politics, economy, and culture, DKI Jakarta is home to the headquarters of State-owned enterprises, private, and foreign companies, so activities in this province must continue to run physically, one of which is the City of South Jakarta Administration. Using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential methods by distributing stratified random sampling and cluster sampling, this research was then processed using Microsoft Excel and Statistical Package for The Social Sciences (SPSS). This study found that, based on 612 respondents who used masks, the types of masks selected were 56.2% medical masks, 34.6% cloth masks, 22.02% respirator masks, and 3.14% chose face shields. The average generation of medical masks is 7.403 – 18,509 grams/use/person, while the average generation of respirator masks is 14.57 – 29.14 grams/use/person. There is also a difference in incidence between women and men, namely that women are more likely to produce offspring. The management of mask waste in the City of South Jakarta basically already has good references and regulations, but inconsistent implementation in the field and minimal public knowledge have resulted in the existing regulations and provisions not working as they should.
