The larvae are known to have a high sensitivity to changes towards environmental factors such as an aeration rate. Therefore, a rearing cage equipped with an instrumentation system known as Modular Fly Cage to optimize the larval growth. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of aeration rate on larval growth, yield, and productivity, assimilation efficiency, efficiency of conversion of digested feed, waste reduction index, and nutrient composition of the larval biomass. The aeration rate was varied from 0–32 m3/s. Cultivation was carried out using a mixed substrate of coconut endosperm waste and soybean curd residue (1:1) in SALAM for 27–30 days with a temperature range of 20.99– 38.93°C, humidity range of 37.45–93.54%, and light intensity range of 3.90– 25,469.02 lux. The cultivation conditions were acquired by sensors and stored in Raspberry Pi in real-time using Arduino and Python programming languages. The results of this study indicated that an aeration rate of 32 m3/s significantly increased the growth of wet weight and larval length (p <0.05) with growth rate values of 2.16±0.0889 mg/larva/day and 0.61±0.0036 mm/day. Such aeration rate also increased the productivity of dry larval biomass up to 45.61±3.6893 g/m2.day. The larvae showed good digestibility of the organic waste substrate with assimilation efficiency, efficiency of conversion of digested feed, and waste reduction index of 47.33±0.5054%, 24.2 ±1.9824%, and 1.75±0.0187, respectively. Based on the results of proximate tests, the larval biomass contains 6.38% protein, 32.28% fat, 4.25% ash, 4.15% starch, and 19.36% fibre. The essential amino acids profile in the larval biomass was dominated by leucine (8.24%), lysine (7.32%), and valine (6.85%). The larval biomass also contains fatty acid particularly lauric acid (61.68%), myristic acid (8.91%), and linoleic acid (8.53%). text
