Cosmos caudatus until now has been used traditionally as an appetite enhancer. The immune system is essential for the body's defense against infection that is caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, and others. Therefore, the concentrated solution of A. paniculata extract and C. caudatus extract was formulated to be used to improve the immune system and as an appetite enhancer. A. paniculata herbs and C. caudatus leaves were extracted by boiling for 30 minutes using water as solvent. The chemical content of crude drugs and dried extract of A. paniculata were characterized by TLC Silica GF254 using eluent chloroform- ethanol (8.5:1.5) while for the chemical content of crude drugs and dried extract of C. caudatus using eluent ethyl acetate-methanol-water-acetic acid (16: 1: 2: 2). The chromatograms were observed under 254 nm UV light. Formulas were made by varying some solvents such as glycerin, propylene glycol, and sorbitol at concentrations of extract 10%, 20%, and 30%. Evaluation of the concentrated solution included organoleptic, pH, and dispersion test. Long term stability test at room temperature and accelerated stability test at 40°C with humidity 75% were evaluated by measuring the flavonoids and andrografolide using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The formula containing the highest extract concentration and the most stable was the formula containing 20% extract which consist of 6.67% A. paniculata extract and 13.33% C. caudatus with glycerin as a solvent. The results of stability test at room temperature showed that slight decrease was observed with andrographolide content and slight increase with flavonoids. Concentrated solution of A. paniculata extract and C. caudatus extract was stable up to 3 month storage at room temperature. text
