Summary: | Indonesia is leading towards a digital economy and electronic payment system. One of the most popular and widely used electronic payment systems in Indonesia is electronic wallet, or usually called e-wallet. This study aims to provide a proposed model to determine the factors influencing e-wallet usage intention in Indonesia. In this study, the researcher proposed a modified framework from author analysis based on 18 previous literature. The framework consists of 6 independent variables such as performance expectancy; effort expectancy; social influence; perceived security; hedonic motivation; and relative advantage, which will be tested to a dependent variable, namely e-wallet usage intention. The factors will be tested by distributing the questionnaire using non-probability convenience sampling towards 404 Generation Z in Indonesia, to determine the factors that influence the use of e-wallet in Indonesia. To deliver better understanding of consumers intention and preference to use e-wallet service, the researcher also implies comparative analysis towards the major e-wallets used in Indonesia, specifically Gopay, OVO, DANA, and LinkAja. The result shows that the proposed model has successfully explained 70.2% of the independent variable in this study. Hence, five factors found to have significant influence on the intention to use e-wallet for generation Z in Indonesia. They are performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, hedonic motivation, and relative advantage. The recommendations to improve e-wallet services regarding these influential factors are given to e-wallet providers, users, and government, to increase e-wallet usage as a cashless payment method and support the rapid growth of cashless society in Indonesia. |
