Summary:Abstract : <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Formulations of gel containing ethanolic extract of duku fruit (Lansium domesticum Corr.) have been developed using carbomer and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose as bases, propylenglycol as emollient, ethanol as penetrant enhancer, triethanolamine as alkalizing agent, and propylparaben and methylparaben as preservatives. Evaluation of gel formulation was based on its physical appearance, homogeneity, viscosity, and pH. The best formulations of gel, were tested for its effect as sunscreen using ultraviolet lamp radiation. After evaluation, pH stability of gel preparations with carbomer were found better than with HPMC, as a result, sunscreens effect can be tested. Carbomer gel preparations containing 2, 6, and 10 % extracts, had no sunscreen effect. <br />
