Summary:Koja trade mall has experienced an insolvency phase that is quite severe that causes income decreased which ultimately resulted in the dismissal of employees. By that conditions the company having problems regarding the paying ability of the employees that continuously affect the employee’s performance. Therefore, the company needs training to increase an employee’s performance. The training that has been conducted in Koja Trade Mall was on-the-job training, especially in the marketing division. Based on the marketing supervisor, the on-the-job training impact did not last long on the employee so it is considered as ineffective. Therefore, this research was to determine what factors that cause ineffective on-the-job training in marketing division of Koja Trade Mall and how to improve it. Thie research use the narrative method to understand the identity and globally by relating to stories that researcher was listening from the interview to or learning the daily activities of employee regarding on-the-job training. By asking the questions regarding the training effectiveness of Kirkpatrick. The results of on-the-job training effectiveness show that based on four-level of Kirkpatrick training effectiveness, there are some levels that not fulfill by the marketing division of Koja Trade Mall. The research recommended to use the external parties in conducting the speciality training for the employees to improve their knowledge.
