A decade between 2010 and 2019 was selected as a guiding time-frame. This study intends to present a chronology of the influencing process of the trend driver on fashion style in Indonesia. This qualitative research with a historical approach utilizes literature data from journals, books, fashion magazines, interviews with fashion experts, and focus group discussions. The visual data of fashion style are collected from ‘Dewi’, as an influential fashion magazine in Indonesia with the consistency of the latest trend contents are factually worn by consumers. The study suggests four dominant styles of trend fashion in Indonesia between 2010 to 2019, namely: modest, an emerged particular theme in Indonesia; athleisure, a reflection view of health and well-being; informality, the roles of millennial as leadership changes; and traditional, that represented the traditional culture of Indonesia. The finding of this study following: The development of fashion trends in Indonesia are influenced by political factors (role models) or strategies and policies in the sector of creative economy; The acceptance process of the four dominant styles occurs due to the reflection ideas towards fashion consumers in Indonesia; The shift of fashion styles from 2010 to 2019 was also influenced by the affirmation process between role models and followers; and The pattern of fashion trends in Indonesia shows different indications compared to global fashion trends, because of the cultural aspects as distinctive characteristics of fashion styles based on traditional values and meanings. text |
