Description
Summary:Nowadays, Indonesia is preparing for the fourth industrial revolution. Industrial revolution 4.0 was first introduced to the public as a national strategy of the German Government in 2011. The concept of Industry 4.0 promises the speed and agility of the production process to meet customer needs. All processes in each department such as marketing, operations, finance, and human resources will be fully driven automatically and digitally. The Government of Indonesia has prepared a program to implement Industry 4.0, namely "Making Indonesia 4.0." The Indonesia Ministry of Industry has also prepared five industrial sectors to focus on. However, based on BPS data the education of Indonesian workers is still dominated by the level of education of elementary school graduates (40.51%) and junior high schools (17.75%) which can be categorized as Low Skilled Labor. The researcher wants to map out various ways to improve the ability within the scope of knowledge and soft skills in human resources in the manufacturing industry to implement Industry 4.0 by taking samples at PT XYZ. This research used a qualitative data approach by conducting interviews with a human resource manager at PT XYZ and 5 experts in informatics, technology, and human resources. Interview questions related to the reasons why soft skills and knowledge are considered important, problems/challenges that must be prepared by the manufacturing industry, and ways to improve soft skills and knowledge of employees. The results of this research provide alternative ways to PT XYZ to improve soft skills and knowledge. Therefore, the researcher suggests that PT XYZ involves soft skills and knowledge in calculating employee incentives.
