This system is responsible for generating the force so that the vehicle can move. One of the propulsion systems commonly used is turbojet, especially in a small-scale aircraft models. Turbojet has several main components, namely, compressor, combustion chamber, and turbine. This research aims to design a low-cost centrifugal compressor that can be manufactured with a relatively easy and inexpensive process compared to conventional centrifugal compressors. In addition, this study also aims to show that a very simple analytical method has a fairly good accuracy. This research begins with setting design point, followed by analytical design and numerical method. If the target is not achieved, then changes are made to the numerical stage until the target is achieved. Followed by analysis and comparison between analytical and numerical method. The design target that has been set is the centrifugal compressor can be manufactured using a 3-axis Computer Numerical Control (CNC). The design point of compressor is total pressure ratio of 3.15, mass flow rate of 1.0591 kg/s, and efficiency of 70%. text |
