Summary: | Many of Indonesia’s young adults delay their bedtime to get some alone time for
themselves. This is known as revenge bedtime procrastination. Enough sleep time is
important and needed for short and long-term health, so efforts are needed to help raise
awareness among young adults about this phenomenon. One way of delaying sleep is
done by watching videos or movies on gadgets. Short animations displayed on video-based
social media platforms could be expected to help this problem. The purpose of this paper
is to find out habits about revenge bedtime procrastination that needs to be known by
young adults and design an animation that conveys that information and raises
awareness. Quantitative and qualitative data used are collected from questionnaires,
interviews, and literature studies. The results of data analysis show that many young
adults do not know what revenge bedtime procrastination is, but they often do it. Data
analysis also shows that many watch animation to feel emotional. This is in line with the
use of animation to persuade, which is executed by evoking audiences’ emotions. Based
on the findings, the media is designed into two parts. The first part provides information
through an explainer video. To help further understanding and to persuade, a second part
is made which contains illustrative animation of a person who has revenge bedtime
procrastination habits. |
