Description
Summary:This research is conducted in Locarvest. Established in 2015, Locarvest is an online platform company that selling agricultural products based in Bandung. They see the importance of agricultural product for human and people who like to shop online as an opportunity for them to sell local agricultural products online. Currently, they have been developing a website to change their selling platform which will be launching soon in late July 2019. They assume that the website will help in creating a simpler selling process. Within the selling process, Locarvest have complex activities where there are several multiple activities which create longer time and increase the workload for the employees when doing those activities. There are also several activities that could not be implemented when they use a website for their selling platform. However, they do not have their written business process where many companies have become increasingly interested in business processes due to the need for effective and efficient activities (Dave, 2017). Business process visualizes each activity within the process including the actor who is responsible for it. This means all involved within the process are influence the activities of the business process including workforce, time, and cost. In here, the objectives of this research are to analyze and design the current business process of Locarvest and restructure their business process as they will change their selling platform to a website, so they can check whether the website will make the business process more efficient or not. The author will use the concept of Business Process Management (BPM) as it starts with the existing process and creates an incremental change. Besides, it is flexible where it uses a modeler in a graphic that can be changed easily. For designing the business process, the author uses the method of Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN) as it enables BPM. The author follows five phases of BPM. Starting from planning a process redesign, analyze the existing process, design new process, resource development for the new process, and managing new process implementation. To model the current business process, the author was conducting several times of interview with the employees of Locarvest and observation in the office. The result of this research is that the author found four problems and give an improvement as a recommendation for each problem. The improvements are: eliminate the pay later activity and add a cancellation order activity, eliminate the first order to supplier activity and add ask the suppliers about the products they can provide before they open the pre-order, and automation from their website’s system from the customer makes an order, payment, and archiving order. To overcome with their current’s problems in their selling process and create an effective yet efficient process, Locarvest should change their current business process with those improvements where the design has been approved by the team management of Locarvest. In addition, all the employees within the company should understand well the new business process and what its different from the old process, so they can maximize their performance along with increasing the company’s performance.
