Summary: | Toll Road is one of the important infrastructures for a country to accelerate travel time from one
place to another. Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road is one most travelled toll roads in Indonesia that
has been established since 1988. Unfortunately, due to several causes, one of which is the
presence of several projects in the Jakarta Cikampek Toll Road, congestion also occurs. This
traffic jam can affect travel time and travel costs which have been considered as one of the most
fundamental determinants of short and long term travel decisions. Therefore, the purpose of this
study is to determine whether the congestion has an impact on the selection of consumer travel
choices. Since the selection of consumer travel choices also might leads into another problem
such as an excess demand, which is a problem that is needed to be solved. To answer this, this
study uses a quantitative approach to the method of distributing questionnaires that have been
distributed to 395 respondents. Previously, we had designed a preference questionnaire that was
stated with four alternative modes: cars, travel shuttles, trains and buses using an efficient design
using NGENE software. These four alternatives has some attributes which are travel time, travel
costs, waiting time, access egress time, access egress cost, and congestion time. After conducting
findings and analysis, the results of the study show that there is an effect of Jakarta-Cikampek
Congestion on consumer travel choices where it appears that the train is the consumer's first
choice. This is supported by the most influential attributes, which are travel time and travel costs
which certainly have a significant negative value, where if there is an increase in the value of
these attributes, people will tend not to choose the transportation modes. |
